Mrs. Gringo has never been a big fan of surprises. She yawned over unexpected gifts, rolled her eyes when receiving a box of chocolates, and don't even talk to her about a surprise party!
For years I trained myself to be predictable. We went to familiar places. Did the same ol' things.
In short, I was boring.
Recently, Mrs. Gringo had a bit of a health setback, one that had me rethinking past behaviors. As a result of my re-calibration, I tested the "Surprise" waters...
She actually liked it! Despite the previous protests.
Of course, I started small. A get well card. Then I built up to some flowers.
Then I went whole hog and went with a surprise party.
Oops, wrong kind of hog.
Today was the surprise visit of an old High School friend. It was another hit.
What's next? The possibilities are only limited by the imagination.
The moral to this story? Surprises make people happy. Surprises bring joy. Surprises elevate you in the eyes of... everyone. So let Mad Gringo help you with a surprise or two for your better half. We've got the goods he (or she) is yearning for. Trust me, I've got a nose for this kind of thing.
